The short answers
FAQ
Short answers to the questions we're asked most.
What is Nalyx?
Nalyx is management software for retail, designed in Belgium. It brings buying, stock, departments, staff, payroll and security together in a single tool connected to the store's real data, with an AI that works on each store's data.
Which shops is Nalyx for?
Retail stores, food retail in particular, whether independent or part of a network, from a single outlet to several stores. The store comparison tool switches on from the second store.
Do I need to change my tills or software?
No. Nalyx connects to what already exists: your tills, head office, supplier order guides and payroll provider. It reads your data; it doesn't replace your systems.
What data does Nalyx use?
Line-by-line sales (EAN code), stock and stocktakes, supplier order guides, promotional operations, the rota, clock-ins and payroll. Only yours, never a market average.
How long does it take to get started?
The on-site audit takes up to 3 weeks, the roll-out up to 3 weeks. Areas are then opened one by one, each once the results of the previous one have been validated.
Is my data used to train a public AI?
No. Nothing that leaves your store feeds a public model. The AI only sees the stores and modules you have access to.
What happens to camera footage?
Nalyx never records sound. Footage stays within the store's own space, accessible to its management, and is not used to train any model. For footfall, Nalyx counts people coming through the door. The terms are set out in the contract.
How does Nalyx protect personal data (GDPR)?
Nalyx provides a data processing agreement (DPA), keeps the record of the processing it carries out on your behalf and enables data subjects to exercise their rights. The documents are published in the site's legal information.
Does Nalyx work on a phone?
Yes. Nalyx runs in the browser, on desktop, tablet and phone. Employees also have an Android time clock app.
What is a supplier order guide?
An order guide (cadencier) is the list of items a supplier offers a store, with their cost prices, pack sizes and trading terms (rebates, free-delivery thresholds). Nalyx reads order guides, including in CADAR format, and matches them against actual sales to show what each supplier earns the store.
What is the difference between known and unknown shrinkage?
Known shrinkage is the loss the store has identified and recorded: wastage, expired products, reported theft. Unknown shrinkage is the gap that remains between book stock and the stock counted at stocktake. Nalyx tracks the two separately, by product family and by department.
What is semi-net margin?
In Nalyx, semi-net margin is gross margin minus recorded wastage, valued at cost price excluding VAT. It shows what the store really earns once identified losses are deducted, which gross margin alone does not show.
Is Nalyx made for franchised supermarkets?
Yes. Nalyx was designed with working Belgian supermarkets and reads the files that banners and head offices make available to their stores: order guides, promotional operations, planograms, sales. Nalyx is an independent publisher, affiliated with no banner.
Who publishes Nalyx?
Nalyx is published by Nalyx SRL, a Belgian private limited company, with its registered office at Avenue Reine Astrid 143, 1410 Waterloo (Belgium), registered with the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (BCE) under number BE 1042.338.244.
