Tracking supermarket stock, product line by product line
The Nalyx Stock block shows what you hold in store, what it is worth and what goes missing. Nalyx tracks stock value, known shrinkage and unknown shrinkage, and classifies each product line (out of stock, critical, overstock, dormant). The store's stocktake serves as the point of truth.

All, Direct or Warehouse
An affiliated supermarket receives part of its goods through the banner's head office (warehouse stock) and part directly from suppliers (direct stock). Nalyx shows one, the other or both together, with a single selector. Each view has the same three tabs: Overview, New lines, Deliveries and discrepancies.
The overview
- Stock value at cost price, with the date of the last stocktake.
- Known shrinkage: recorded wastage and losses, valued at cost price.
- Unknown shrinkage: the unexplained gap, as a percentage of sales excluding VAT, against your target.
- Zero-margin product lines: what sells without earning anything.
Each product line carries a status you can read at a glance: out of stock, critical, at risk, normal, overstock, dormant or not tracked, with its cover in days. A matrix highlights the out-of-stocks that cost money and the stock that sits idle.
Deliveries and discrepancies
The Deliveries and discrepancies tab matches what was delivered against what was counted. The tab flags direct deliveries that were probably not scanned on receipt, which explain a large share of stock discrepancies. The stocktake remains the point of truth: every discrepancy is read from it.
New lines
The New lines tab isolates recently arrived product lines, so you can check they sell before they sit idle in the stockroom.
The data used
Nalyx reads line-by-line sales, identified by their EAN code, the valued stock and the store's stocktakes. Find a product line by its description, internal code or EAN.
FAQ
What is the difference between known and unknown shrinkage?
Known shrinkage is the loss the store has identified and recorded: wastage, expired products, reported theft. Unknown shrinkage is the gap between book stock and the stock counted at stocktake. Nalyx tracks the two separately.
What do direct stock and warehouse stock mean?
Warehouse stock arrives through the banner's head office; direct stock is delivered by the suppliers themselves. Nalyx shows them separately or together.
Why is the stocktake the source of truth?
Because the stocktake is the only physical count. Nalyx starts from the stocktake to explain discrepancies, for example a direct delivery that was not scanned on receipt.
